So I moved my new batch of chicks out at 2 weeks, cold and all. A couple weeks later they are nearly integrated, effortlessly.

It's absolutely true that the older birds accept them much better when they are younger. I'm amazed at the acceptance this time.

Those aren't chick feathers on the floor!

A minute later the rooster was in the
brooder tidbitting for the chicks.

And just because I love my dog, who loves her chickens.

Looks good! I love it when dogs & chickens get along! My beagle loves her chicken sisters, and the eggs she gets from them.

This is the first time I brooded in my coop and I integrated at 4 weeks with the same results. Integrating early has been the absolute easiest. At 6 weeks they were up roosting with the big girls.

I have a dog kennel rigged up similarly. Great to be getting them together so easily. I was really shocked when the older birds just seem curious, no real hostility at all.

Great to be here and have the advantage of all this collective wisdom!
