so I have 19 10 week old chicks, there are 7 silkies in that 19. Today I integrated them with my 6 hens and 1 roo. I originally had 11 hens 1 roo, and I put five hens In my brand new bantam coop( bantams are coming May 17 and won’t need it till July) I put those five in there so I can keep up the egg output until the chicks start laying. The chicks have been in a playpen in the coop for 2 weeks and today I opened up the pen and pushed the chicks out. They got off on a good note when I moved a feeder and there was a nest of baby mice, the young and the old girls went nuts, Together! There has been no scuffles at all(I expect that to happen tomorrow.) The 2 age groups stick to theme selves mostly, but from time to time the chicks will get curious and come over. I am so happy it went so well, I just wanted to say that integration doesn’t have to be a real stressful thing that takes weeks and some much energy. I will update tomorrow to share how everything is going!

Good News!
Integrations isn't always a big deal.....often depends on space available.
How big is your coop, in feet by feet?
Would love to see your playpen setup.
Do you free range or have a run?
The 2 weeks in there helped....as did moving 5 of the existing flock to another coop.
