Sorry, this reply is kinda late, and
@oldhenlikesdogs has given a response, but I just wanted to add some info based on my research and experience.
Small parrots, like budgies, should be fed fresh vegetables as the main part of their diet with a good quality seed mix for supplementation.
I make a veggie chop for my parrots that I freeze into small portions and give to them every morning. You can then give them seed in the afternoon. Veggies should make up most of the diet with seeds around 20%.
When you do buy the seed mix as well, you have to get a good quality one, not just a supermarket seed that would have no nutritional value.
There has been some good info on this thread, but here's a link to an article I made that covers most of the stuff I have to say for some extra info.

Whether it's a macaw you're getting or a budgie, all parrots are a large commitment that shouldn't be taken lightly. So, make sure you do your research and consider all the factors to make sure you make the best decision for you and the bird.
Hope this is helpful
