I was doing some research on different mutations from all the talk we've been having about different coturnix and bobwhite colours lately, and found this scholarly article that claims to have successfully hybridized coturnix with chickens, and makes reference to other studies which have done the same:

http://jhered.oxfordjournals.org/content/93/1/73.full?sid=227bfbc1-0090-407f-9859-1d9979f5bf4b

Apparently A and B were the parents and C and D were the offspring (why they would use a naked neck I have no idea lol)

They claim that they AI a hen coturnix with sperm from a rooster, and it produces sterile offspring, but produces no offspring if a chicken is inseminated with sperm from a male quail.

What do you think?

Nice article. I heard this a while back from a friend of mine and thought it was weird. I am a chicken fan aswell as a quail fan so an inbetween is quite cool. Shame about sterility though.

picture D is the best chicken I ever saw! Haha
