Hi all! I noticed a weird behavior with my chickens. Today is July 1 and in Hawaii, they do these siren tests every time a new month passes— this can be heard all around the island. Unfortunately, the sirens are right next to my house and are blaringly loud. I noticed that almost every single one of my chickens started to shake their heads rather vigorously and adjust their crops ( I think that’s what they are doing).
It’s not an alarming behavior because they stopped right after the siren stopped. I just found it interesting to find out something new about these chickens.
Does anyone know anything about the chicken anatomy to understand why they do that? It seems involuntary. I think the simple explanation for this is that the siren was too loud for their cute little ears
