2 questions. Apologies.

I recently found out I have a male in my flock (due to the crowing🤣) which is absolutely fine but I don't see him mating and he has no bulge like males do? When I do a vent check only a little foam comes out. Is he shy or? 😆

Second question... One of my females has a bit of a bald patch on her belly/chest. Is this normal this time of year? It's summer time in the UK. Can't see anything else wrong with her apart from a limp which she's always had since having her. Laying, eating and drinking fine.

Thanks :thumbsup

Don’t worry about your male. He will start trying to do his job soon. From my experience they will literally flip a switch one day and it will be obnoxiously obvious. I do caution you if you only have one male and one female. He will most likely over breed her and can actually hurt her. I had this issue with mine. I had two hens to one roo and I needed about 3-4 hens to make it right. My roo kept scalping the two hens from over breeding. As far as your hen goes, it sounds like she’s just not yet finished growing in her feathers. I had one do that. She should be fine.

Can you post pics of your male? Females will have some foam if they have been bred recently.

If you hen with a bit of a limp is dragging a bit, it may cause some baldness on her belly. I could also be that she's hot.

Edit: I typed out a response shortly after you posted this, but for some reason it was still here as a draft.

Hey. Thank you for you reply. I actually have 11 females. I thought I had 12 but then heard the male crow so I think he has more than enough females 🤣 I don't plan on breeding but if he behaves he will be staying regardless :)
Yeah that is probably it. I got her in March though when she was 7/8 weeks so just a tad confused why she doesn't have feathers there. Maybe that's just the way she is going to be.
