Interesting Malposition

On July 29, 2019, I candled this egg and thought that this was an odd spot for the bill, so I decided to make a hole where the arrows are:

Once opened a little, I realized it wasn't the bill, it was the hock joint, which meant the duckling was upsidedown. :hit So I made the decision to peel away the shell to expose the bill. The duckling hadn't pipped internally yet, so I made a hole in the membrane so it could breathe and I covered the rest of the membrane with Neosporin and put it back in the incubator.

On July 30, 2019, I removed the membrane in the am, then in the evening I removed the shell and the rest of the membrane and put it back in the incubator.

Here is the duckling on 7/31/2019 - It's very weak, so I will probably give it some NutriDrench and fluids orally.

Wow are you kidding me that is the most amazing thing ever. Your pretty awesome I'm learning so much but I doubt I could ever do something like that. I'm in awe :love

You can do it if I can and I did! Mine was breech and with the expert direction of @WVduckchick a sweet little duckling was born. I was shaking like a leaf but you just have to take your time. Tiny but so happy and cute.
