Well 4 isn't so bad for first time, It takes a while to get it down pat and still can lose some. Congrats on the 4
Will you be keeping these lil ones?
Very sorry for your losses.
Congrats on the three! Pictures soon I hope? We've only got 3 at this point. But we're really excited to be welcoming these ducklings to the fam. Whether we end up keeping all of them is kinda determined by their gender makeup. If we end up with a female and two drakes, that's kind of a problem. So we'll see who gets to stay!
Congratulations! Ducklings are always such fun. Just think about it, in the wild ducks aren’t in a predator free environment with perfect weather so their hatch rates aren’t always high either.Hey all. Interesting reads about the thermometers. Hijack away!
As for the ducklings, it's been a mixed bag. We've had 2 successfully hatch. One has pipped and is working on it. Will probably be out in a couple hours. The fourth was dead in shell this morning when I woke up.
All in all it was kind of a poor hatch. When I candled at day 7, I had 10 fertile eggs. 7 of them quit at different times. I think I need to calibrate my thermometers so I can have precise temperature readings if and when I incubate again. I live in the city right now. This is just practice for when I buy land in the country.
Congrats on the three! Pictures soon I hope?![]()
