Internal pip to external pip

Tell him to take it out of the shell and warm it up. It may just be very tired from the drawn out hatch

I told told him already to put him in the incubator to warm him back up. Just in case. He was moving around so well this morning and peeping. I was so positive he would pull through. Now I'm stuck at work until 7:30 tonight. :(

Fingers crossed!

Sorry to hear it didn't turn out like you had hoped. Don't hesitate to PM if you are dealing with a difficult hatch in the future. We learn things every single time we have to go into an egg. We've all lost chicks and wished we could go back in time to do something differently.

Thanks Sumi and Jeremy. My husband and the girls are going to bury the chick while I'm at work. I feel really bad about it. As a nurse, I want to save everyone and everything. I realize I'm still learning with hatching chicks. I have another hatch due on the 26th. This time I have been using the dry incubation method. I weighed all my eggs and they are right on track for the goal of 12-14% weight lose. It make me nervous about this upcoming hatch.
When no one responded to my post I just figured that I shouldn't do anything, but watch and wait. Next time I will contact you both personally. Thank you both.

If you have to do anymore breakouts, a good thing to know is that once the chick has all of it's yolk absorbed, it's ready to come out. If you're going into the egg and see some yellow yolk still out, leave the chick in the egg some to let the yolk absorb more. You can tell from the photos you posted that the chick was malpositioned so it was probably compromised in some way. You did a great job working with it...you can't save them all.

You're welcome. Next time you have questions, start a thread and send me a PM, or @Mention me and I'll have a look. You are also welcome to chime in on the Diary & Notes ~ Air Cell Detatched SHIPPED Eggs thread. Sally Sunshine and the others participating on that thread will help you and answer any questions you may have. Sally wrote that wonderful assisted hatch article I linked for you. We'll keep an eye out for your on the 26th.

Another question, for shipped eggs, do you lock down with them in egg cartons or lying down? Debating if maybe leaving them upright would help. Do you wait for internal popping before you lock down? Thanks
