I like the four seasons, the 3 feet of snow is a challenge, but the new snow blower worked good last year! TOMView attachment 1972290

Too much snow for me! I love the metal chickens on your fence. Especially the hen and chick. I bought me some roosters like that but they didn't have the hen and chicks. Did you make those or buy them?

Here is a pullet I've selected to use as a breeder. She will go with Dark Halo. I think I'll call her Gypsy. The only true fault she has is the brown eyes.. I like her topline, bottom line, mass, plumage, tail, and hackle color. Her comb isnt bad either. Just waiting on POL to see her true tail angle and her egg color.

While I was out I grabbed a few updates pics of the cockerels. Dark Halo is a very bold yet gentle bird, not afraid of me or the camera. Dark Angel is bashful and tries to stay in the background. The pictures don't do their mass justice. They are both big birds. I looked them over last night more closely.. no white in their wings or plumage.

Dark Halo wouldn't turn around and show me his rear end. His tail is nice and open though. Not narrow or pinched.

Thank you! I'm glad you think so. I penned her up because she is looking good so far and is free from white. She also has a nice wide tail and back. I think she'll turn out well once she matures.

Okay here’s the update on my two boys, now six months old. Once again I prefer one over the other easily.

Cockerel 1:

He’s easily my favorite. He has nice deep red comb, wattles, and face, good leg and sole color and foot feathering. But I’m not good yet at telling any of the other characteristics.

Cockerel 2:

His copper seems a little light to me in his neck. Plus his comb and wattles aren’t very red comparatively.

Here’s a picture of both to compare copper color:

I do have one question though. Am I counting wrong or do they have 6 points instead of 5? I though Marans were only supposed to have 5, but maybe I remembered wrong, or counted wrong. They’re from two different lines so I’d be confused if they both had this fault.

By the time I’ll be using them to breed they’ll be about 9-10 months old.
