none of the parents have split wing. Buster has half brother who does have split wing and hens have a half brother who also has split wing(my other cock bird). Assuming you are right on with all parents being recessive carries which gave me 100% split wing chicks on first hatch. Is it possible to hatch “non-split wing” from this trio? I am thinking not.

both parents are recessive . yes it is possible to get normal wing chicks , you just have to hatch more chicks and cull early . you will still have normal chicks but will be carriers ,that is a problem in a long run .
only test mating and hatching more chicks ,cull early can fix this type of problem .

Just wanted to share these pictures i took the other day. My guys turned 3 months old on the 10th and i swear they get visibly bigger each day. In a couple weeks poor toothy wont be the biggest rooster on the block anymore lol.

This is a Blcm pullet from Jasper. She has a little darker chick down but nice and chunky. She will be 1 week tomorrow.

When do you guys find is the best age to cull the extra Roos for consumption? Since they are not meat birds I’m thinking splitting them and BBQ on the grill would be best. What say you?
