nice to know you still have a BC rooster and you are ok with hens .I am sorry you are having such a difficult time with your Marans. I hope you can get them going and they stay healthy. It has been pretty ruff here too. I am down to one BC rooster and 2 BLCM cockerels. I am ok on the hens so far. I am hoping I don't lose any through the winter.
I like him a lot .love that small low tail and the quality of his copper .This is Seamus.
He is one of 3 roosters I have selected from purchased eggs last fall. My concern with this line is the parasitic white in the flock I bought the eggs from.
He does have some white underfluff and is the smallest of the 3 but I do like him.
The short tail was my goal.

agree with you ,this one has to go .This is another from the 3 roosters. As you can see, he has those 2 long white feathers in his tail. He is big with nice color though.
He will be the one I cull I think.

he is good . that tail and legs coloring are to die for .breed him first ,than get ready of him .make sure you breed from him .This is the last of the 3.
He is a giant. He is also mean as a hornet. Could be because he is in the bachelor pen with no access to the hens?
He has some white on him but I hesitate to cull because he has great coloring to compliment my darker hens.
And that tail shape is what I need in my line.
Also check out the leg coloring. They are pink with just a touch of grey.

those 2 feathers will grow larger and more whiter after the molt .Heres a question.
Those 2 white tail feathers that stick up so high.
Do you think they will molt out and grow back smaller like the rest of his tail or will they grow out the same way they are now.
Would it be a good idea to wait and see instead of cull?
parasitic white will get worst if you breed from from a pair with parasitic white , it is not that bad if only one of the 2 has the white . still will be there ,General question for all you BCM experts: does the parasitic white just get worse if you breed the hen? I have been getting BCMs for my mom to breed-the last had good coloring and some feathers on their feet. The roosters she got are all good from what she tells me but I havent seen them. But I have another pullet I will be bringing her and it definitely has some white in its feathers. She is doesn't care so much about coloring or feathering on feet, just egg color so I'm thinking for her purposes it won't matter but I'm curious if this bird is good to add to her program-it doesn't even have that much copper.
