I like this guy. He is short and seems more rectangle. He takes after his mother. Not JR.

He seems over colored.

First Marans baby hatched. So far I have four babies, this one hatched yesterday, I have three more in the incubator, but two of them don’t look correct. They have lots of white/yellow around the face.
All the Marans seem to be pipping at the wrong end of the egg. Why would that be? Everyone who has pipped has hatched and the Faverolles all pipped at the right end. Not sure what’s going on with the Marans. No more pips so far, I hope they’re not done.

Thank you. I hope he does too. I don't keep aggressive roosters but I had to keep his sire this one time. Hoping he does not inherit the temperament.

I’ve recently stopped getting notifications from BYC, don’t know why. I thought this thread was strangely quiet , but it was my phone. Update on eggs: BCM started laying, didn’t get a photo of the first egg but got the next two. The BlCM was the one laying that lovely egg before. The BCM is paler but has nice speckles and is very shiny.

Nice looking chick.
The yellow coloring could be albumin stain. If so, it happens sometimes and will go away.

What was your temp and humidity?

Ok i just got them. Feeling kinda discouraged. Only one, the first one looks like a breeder bird. The others have way too much white on them!
