International Black Copper Marans Thread - Breeding to the SOP

I just had to share.
This little chick hatched today and hasn't learned to eat or drink yet but sure learned how to hop up on the heat pad instead of under it.

Not a chick from my trio test breeding but I wish she was.

Is that brown spot on its head a sign of copper already? If so, do chicks like this end up having the most copper or is it just random?

the brown spot on they head is a mutation ,sign of the purity of the line . this mutation does appear only on the BCM and SBM( Birchen ) lines .

Down to 7 cockerels. We started with 18.

The 3 we culled this morning will be canned and put up in the pantry.
These are the ones left. I see a couple more that will need to be culled.

All 3 had squirrel tails and white underfluff. The white is going to be a major problem for me to get rid of.

I didnt have time to get photos of all of them.

These cockerels have 1-3 week age difference with the youngest still growing in their copper.

they are very nice few different styleand body type . soe have very nice tails and flat long back but few look to me like they are standing more up right too high not sure if they are just excited or that is they usual stance .
over all I like them great improvement and lot to select from .
