International Black Copper Marans Thread - Breeding to the SOP

Caught some pics of Prince also a week or so ago. Just turned a year in July. He's got his dad's tail so I'm gonna wait for his molt to see what happens but I worry about him inheriting King's neurological issue also so I think he's a cull, unfortunately. He's turning out to be a good boy also. View attachment 3625948View attachment 3625950View attachment 3625951
I might show this to my Marans roo to make him feel better about his own tail!

Sorry if that’s a bit mean!
Mine’s just moulting his tail, he’s never looked so good 😂

yes do not breed BC to Wheaten because don t give any good result just mossy chooks ,
but you can do you can breed BC to Golden cuckoo .or Wheaten to Golden cuckoo that will give you new varieties good looking one too to add to your flock .
chooks man
Planning on cream leg bar Roo for them. For Olive Eggers (wanted some barred olive Egger Hens even though sex will be a mystery at hatch.

Would a Birchen male just contaminate the silver with gold from my breeds? I love silver but keep reading where people are frustrated 'breeding the gold out'

I see alot of Black Silvers posted in my area with gold for sale. They are not breeders or they are their culls. Either way I don't want that in my birds. Not good. I know it's a possibility to pop up in the lineage but I'd at least try to start out with quality the best I can.

Seeing that your getting a Black Silver Roo tho you might as well get 1 or 12 pullets for a whole pretty flock.... 👍
What's 1 more coop? A couple boards and a nail.

I need 1 or 2 cockerels and 1 or 12 pullets when you go. Whatever time works for you. 👍😉
I see you are in Michigan. I got my hatching eggs from a guy outside of Decatur Indiana a little over an hour from the Michigan line I’m not experienced enough to speak of the quality of the birds I have pictures of them in this thread. They guy is only asking $6/dozen.

I set 12 eggs in a modified toaster oven for an incubator. I dropped one while hand turning. 8 hatched out. I’m not sure if he ships or not but if you ever make it south it might be worth looking into. I’m not sure what the rules are on posting links but I found him on Craigslist Fort Wayne area.
