Holy smokes those dark eggs are incredible. What the heck?? How awesome. I am so scared the eggs I ordered won't be that dark. I'm having a little mini obsession about how dark the eggs will be. Also how dark the eggs will be that the hens that hatch lay.View attachment 4086696View attachment 4086697I can’t temper if I’ve said it on here, but I’ve ordered 5 pullets from a breeder I’ve been in contact with (I failed to hatch 10 of his eggs last year). 3 dark cuckoos (English) and two black coppers (French). Those gorgeous dark eggs are the coppers, the paler ones are the cuckoos (still the darkest DCM eggs I’ve seen).

That's really pretty. What causes the speckling or not speckled on the eggs?
Gorgeous colors, my friend. Congrats on your new incoming pullets. I remember the hatch last year.View attachment 4086696View attachment 4086697I can’t temper if I’ve said it on here, but I’ve ordered 5 pullets from a breeder I’ve been in contact with (I failed to hatch 10 of his eggs last year). 3 dark cuckoos (English) and two black coppers (French). Beautiful eggs..........
Here's one of the color charts.I heard there is a number grading scale for eggs. How do you know what number your eggs are?
Oh wow now I'm really wondering what my eggs will look like and what the hens that hatch will lay. I would never be so lucky. I should be lucky though because these eggs cost a fortune.https://www.themaransclub.org/shop
These shade cards can be ordered thru the above link.

Maybe this is useless knowledge to some here, but something I read and have been mistakenly doing. When comparing the chart above, it's suppose to coincide with the side of the egg and not the top as the card indicates the side view of the egg.
Most of mine are usually just dark on the one end so I was comparing that darkness to the shade card.
Misinformation or correct?
