lovely color /shape and sheen

8 month old for the first egg and 96g double yoke .is a sign of late maturing strain and over weight pullets .

This was not her first egg. She started laying in March. All my hens eat free choice and she is not larger than any of the other hens. I just thought it was a nice egg. The good layers right now average 60-64 grams.

60/64g is good .

I m not saying your hens do not eat free choice . what i m saying a double yoke is a sign of over weight mostly or other stress if happen so often .
in your case I think was just random does happen some time .

for me personally I do not like that sign in my flock .

My dear friend chickengr .
Penning a hen/pullet with 2 roosters does not increase the fertility .but will stress them ( hen/pullet).
let the little chicks do some growing than we ll see how they turn up .
it is nice to have a heavy feathering shanks type and the light one too ,help to balance the strain .

luna, mario and marco are not alone. I put the other hens so that the boys can have fun. I just don't hatch the eggs from the other girls. they have plenty of room in their run.

unfotunately mario has some health issues so I think I shouldn't keep him:hitI adore him but cannot risk to have sick chicks. I now have 3 young cockerels to choose from.

Golden cuckoo . Shamrock X Bella ( blue copper hen )
he is great in every thing
notice who his body is rectangular
his chest is deep and wide
back long flat
tail .thin ,small ,pointed and at great angle . he is the only keeper from 15 true brothers

this is a reason why I like to hatch minimum 25 chicks by any pairing . I get a chance to find what I m looking for

now I found him .than he is going over his mam Bella to start her line Golden Cuckoo Marans Blue and Black .
nothing will be added to this line for the next 5/6 years of selective breeding .tell is stable for all the trait i m looking to lock in .
Royal family
