Are you sure? I swear I was close to culling my FRF cockerel when he was around that age, he was hideous. But as he got older he looked better. I would hang on to him for a bit. Your cockerel looks leaps and bounds better than mine did at that age.

Well he is not trouble so I guess I can let him hang around but I don't think he will improve enough. His legs are long. His tail is long, he carries it high. While I am writing this I am thinking, he has to go. I can't have that tail in my program. I am fighting what I already have.

Finally finished 1/2 of the new run. Crooks have been locked up waaaay too long.

Yes I know a few of these pullets have partial white earlobes. Trying to figure that out as these are F2 from the same line and non of the previous ones had white. Could it be an age thing? Never paid attn to the previous ones when younger. These are 7 Months old now

Thx chooks man. I would like the girls to have more copper. I think I will need to start breeding separate for hen and roo colouring. If I use a roo with too much copper they end up to coppery on chest.

I understand. You see him everyday, you know him and his faults. Now you can hatch a bunch with your new incubator so you have many to choose from.

Pure FRF pullet (Gretta's daughter)

Gretta and her daughter are hard to tell apart. The only way I can tell is by their bands. I am focusing on egg color in this FRF pen for now.

I only have Apollo in the pen temporarily until I fix another pen for him. None of my Marans are laying right now anyway.

In the picture it looks like my FRF cockerel has white in his tail but it must've been the shine/reflection. His tail is solid black. Also I think I will call him Grady, his sister will be Gretchen. I took Chooks man's advice on naming them similar to their parents.

She does, her back is longer and her tail isnt as high so Im happy to see any improvement.

give them time. I had a hen who's white on ear lobe disappeared later. she just had worms and was a bit anemic. I now have pullets who one day show white on earlobe and another is gone. they are about 6 mo.

watch him closely. my roo keeps his tail high as he feels proud of something. none of my cockerels has high tail unless they are trying to impress the ladies or me, lol. you can cull next generation if necessary.
