International Black Copper Marans Thread - Breeding to the SOP

One of the young pullets is sick. There are no signs of illness. I mean puffed up, wheezing..... ill behavior. She just can't stand or walk. It seems neurological. It was 28 degrees last night but I don't see what that would matter. I put a lamp on them. I brought her in and will watch her but I don't think she will recover.

I was noticing that on the Facebook page where I have a order in for Birchen Marans. They show where he is working on a lacing project. Shouldn't Birchen be solid black chest? Down lower on the page show Birchen with the solid black chest. Maybe I should be specific and say I want chicks from the solid pen not the lacing project.

Sorry RedBanks! I hope you caught it before it spreads. I hope it's not Merricks! Prayers!

Read about Mareks and about many other things it can be. My place is very secure as I have no chicken friends for cross contamination and I don't bring in adult birds. I haven't had any changes in my chickens until this last batch of chicks in a very long time.

I will just have to wait and see. Everyone was fine yesterday. She is a big pullet.

There are so many different things to deal with when you raise chickens. It seems like there is always something. From frostbite to lice and worms. The list is endless. I hope she pulls through. Love and Prayers. Keep us updated on how she is doing.
