International Black Copper Marans Thread - Breeding to the SOP

I took Chooks Mans advice. All roosters/cockerels are locked up except Antonio and that will happen next week. The hens are going to be left in peace unless it is a planned breeding.
That is the way to go! I could put the roosters in the pen after the lavenders are gone. The only problem with that is they would still see the hens in the other pen. :idunno

My cockerels/roosters are side by side with the hen coop, only thing separating them is wire. They don't seem bothered by the hens, they have settled into being bachelors. See the rooster on the other side.

Antonio will have a 5X8 coop for himself. He would probably kill Tony2 and all those cockerels if I locked him up. I need to go ahead and cull a few. Hard to do they seem to change everyday.

For me culling the cockerals is hard. I don't have enough room to keep 20 cockerals very long.

Out of 20 you should be able to find a few to cull. How many do you need to keep for your hens? I want to end up with 3 including Antonio for now. He does make pretty pullets. After my next hatch I plan to swap out two of those.
