if was me i ll mate the brother F1 to sister F1 to get a true F2 . better result and better chooks to choose fromSo would you take Marco or Mario back to Luna since those are the only available roos?
he was hatched by broody. that's why I got some pullets that should become broody later.
as there is a chance that luna's parents are full siblings marco is out of question.
that is a speculation not chooks genetic .
they are birds not mammals .
bird like to be inbred .

I've heard that inbreeding can cause curly toes, crossed beaks, etc. is that true?
that true if this sort of faults where in the genetic make up pf the stock.
if the stock where selectively inbred than is good to keep them pure for all the existence .you do need to bring a new blood is no true
selective breeding and just inbreeding is different things .
selective breeding; we do inbreed the line to let it express it genetic potential . when we achieve that , we select a good one and we cull the unwanted one, after few generation we ll be able to breed the faults out and breed the quality in ( reinforced ).
if we keep crossing outwardly than is very hard if not impossible to breed any thing out or the fix anything in .Just running around.
we need inbreed line .if we want to keep the chooks going forward and we minimize the culling in the future generation .
hope that help .
