I decided to let the injured cockerel out. I wanted to lift his spirits, I didn't see him get off the roost all day. As soon as he got out he stood at the water for about 10 minutes. He kept drinking and drinking. I don't think he has anything to eat or drink. I will leave him out for a couple of days. Take his mind off his injuries. He walks gingerly, I think he is trying to figure out only having one eye. Poor guy.
Update: The cockerel dropped a wing on a hen. Drank and ate. Seemed fine. I left him and went in the house. I decided to take Gus for a walk and when I came out of the door I heard a crash noise. I kept looking for the cockerel as I walked to the coops to investigate but I didn't see him. The other cockerel was agitated in his coop pacing back and forth. I went into the second coop and the injured cockerel was on the ground. He looked dead but he wasn't, he started flopping around but his neck was bent back and he couldn't get to his feet. I think he fell off the roost. I keep two coops open all day. The coop I found him in is where the pullets roost at night. This has been a nightmare.
