International Black Copper Marans Thread - Breeding to the SOP

yeah maybe she doesn t have a body color and she have a bad comb BUT she is a great body type bung on the money .
I knew she will have a long wide back . nice tail a little bigger .great angle.

you need to work on the comb and body color .
body type you have nice one .

what color are her eggs ? please .

eggs color is very important .

The one on the left is hers, one on the right is her siblings egg.
Her and her siblings hatched out of #6 colored eggs.

I am hoping the introduction of a stable bloodline to my program will bring what mine lack.
I will probably do mostly paired breedings when I start hatching so I can better control/and log what I am "creating".

I would like to get avocado coloured eggs but I don't understand what to breed to F2.

Chickengr all this eggs colours are good BUT don t forget the work that goes with it ,plus the extra coop and space needed .

you have to choose the breed you realy want to work with .that will make it easy for you to organize your self and your breeding program .

one step at the time you ll go very far .

For me I found my breed and every body know that .I m a marans man .easier to work with one breed with many variety .

my friend give me his CLB and White Aracauna to work with to help him fix them BUT I don t really like them. I told him I ll help him this breeding season and that all . for me any extra pen will be for my MARANS ..

When I establish the marans breed I ll move to my project Creating my oun breed the MARNECK . far in the future .

My personal opinion .

I have another question about her.

Today I got this photo and was handling her on this table when I noticed that she has these small white feathers on her ear tuft, do those feathers mean anything or will they eventually molt out?

I have a feeling this might mean she will throw chicks with a few white feathers on them.

I think Chooks man's post is the best example of what he has been trying to tell us. BCM were created many many years ago by crossing several breeds, they decided they liked what they ended up with and then bred true. Most importantly hanging on to the egg color (still a top priority). We worry about everything, is this right, is that right. We have the power to fix everything. We have the power to have exactly what we want without constantly searching for the perfect start up birds. We probably already own our start up birds we just don't recognize them. In another post Chooks man said he sold all his best cockerels/roosters, he kept one he could work with but isn't perfect..... I understand him using all caps at me, he feels he is repeating himself but it is hard for us because we have not been breeders (some of us), we have been buyers. There is a member, Morbius18 that is working with GCM, he is fearless and that's what we have to be. We have to believe in ourselves and then take the birds with us to our goal.

Thank you RedBank that exactly what I was trying to tell you guys .your are getting it that great.

BOB MARLEY said in one of his song ( we have to free ourselves from the mental slavery ) I do agree with him 100% .

we have to be free . there not a chooks GAD we have to worship !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

is our chooks we work with them if we get wrong we are not going to hell or jail . WE have to restart again tell we get it alright

Morbius 18 is a good man and fine breeder I chat a lot to him about a GCM .he do have courage to stand up for the proper GCM the ER based bird not the e+ mixture they are trying to promote as a GCM . I admire his work

we need people like him .

don t speculate . please .

they are not a fault neither a genetic trait just a parasitic type .

the white feathers we have to worry about are the one on the wings and the tail .plus the under feather or the down .

She could carry a Silver gene ( Birchen ) . possibility can not be excluded . they are not our chooks SO we don t know exactly what they make up .

this is a reason I m saying we have to breed them between them selves to see what genes are hiding first . than we ll plan to how to breed them and pairing properly .

So I should breed her to her brother to test what they might carry.

We shall find out what lies within my birds soon enough, the only thing slowing me down is waiting for some hatchable sized eggs.

This may be a dumb question and please forgive me if it is, how would a hidden silver birchen gene express itself in her chicks if mated back to her brother?

Would I have to cross to her brother and then their offspring back to her to find that out?

I finally got my new egg color charts. I am getting eggs consistently between 5-7. There is such a subtle difference in the colors it is hard for me to determine. My Cuckoos aren't even laying a 4.
