cockerel too .great body type nice and long . great hackle color nice comb nice shanks color enough feathers on them . from the rear the tail is tilted on one side a little . legs are a same as cockerel 1 seem to be bent inward . I think they are not happy about the photos stand set up .( need improvement ) look at his back there is a little cushion here .( a little bump I can see it not but is there). not a big deal I m just been snobby a little . NOTE ; cockerel like him Early feathering type mated to a hen late feathering type will give sex linked chicke .all the pullets will be early feathering type and the cockerels late feathering types . chooks man
Thanks Chooksman! I will get better pics as they mature. I noticed the cushion on cockerel 2 in the picture. Im not sure if that is a cushion or if that is where his feathers were fluffed up from me handling him. I will have to check. I will also try to get a look at their legs.

you BCM are one step closer to greatness .

his comb is good ( not exellent but good no far of ) the comb is from the hen .

the pullets tangerine is great type too .

Both have one problem ( if they are related than is good ,could be fixed without adding any thing to them .) they have dark eyes .

the cockerel brown eyes no bad neither good
pullets Dark eyes .

Thank you SO much for your feedback. Pinky and Tangerine are hatchmates from the same roo. I ended up with one cockerel and six pullets, so he was it.

I think one of my new chicks is a cockerel, so we'll see how he turns out. I got the chicks from Chicken Ridge Farm, and according to the website, the they're from a
Greenfire Farms line Rooster over Davis/Little Peddler/Cottage Hill and Wade Jeane line hens.

As chooksman said, the cushions are a minor issue and can be fixed fairly easily by breeding the offspring back to Pinky Pie to correct. Dont give up on them for that. Your chickens are lovely! :)

your birds are beautiful no such thing as a perfect bird!

Absolutely. They all have flaws and that doesnt discount them in the breeding pen. Flaws can be corrected when breeding with a good looking cockerel such as yours. Pinky Pie is an excellent cockerel and will be very valuable in the breeding pen.

Type = Overall he is good. Legs are balanced in his center, he has a well developed hind end and chest.
Head = Could have a bigger head, his is smaller than I personally prefer.
Comb = Good amount of points, he has a odd split in the back, rounded point on the last 1.
Wattles= Acceptable size.
Eyes = I can't tell from this photo.
Ears tuft = Color matches the hackles. Good.
Ears lode = Good color, length is nice.
Neck = A fair amount of curve is present, blends into the body well.
Back = Not too short or bowed in. Nice and flat, good length.
Tail = Good angle, nice length to the tail.
Wings = Nice! Held nice and close to the body, wing isn't too long. It is my favorite part of him, creates a look of strength.
Chest = Not filled out completely yet. Should be a bit deeper and fatter.
Legs = I don't think they are to fluffy, in this photo they seem to be more narrow than preferred.
Shanks = Looks to be well feathered, I can't tell much about the color other than they are darker than preferred. Height is fine.
Feathers type and color = Nice and compact on against his body. The color is overall okay.
Body color = Still some to grow in at this age but nice so far, a fair amount of copper on his chest. The black is not too shiny nor too flat in color.
Hackle color= A good consistent color throughout, a acceptable color.
Lancets color = Lighter than preferred, could be darker.
Back color = Still a bit spotty, he isn't finished developing all his color.

The French SOP is my council, but I do have some personal preferences on some things.
I'm hoping I didn't screw anything up too badly

no no I did not think that at all I meant you were light hit years ahead of me in record keeping. My chicks from frf could be sexed the first week because they were slow Feathering. All the males had no Tales. All misspelled words and improper punctuation is Samsung's fault. Haha

I understood exactly what you meant when you said I was light years ahead of you with my record keeping. Lol. When it comes to our chickens I think I have a mild case of OCD. :D

I noticed that a lot of my cockerels from my Louisiana group were slow featherers also. I will keep records of any chicks I hatch that are slow or fast to feather and see if I can predict sex by it.

I chased Pinky for over 20 minutes, and this is the best I could get for now. He was not being helpful at all!
