I've had chickens for about 4 years but only had for egg laying... This is my first time to try to raise a specific breed and need to know the ins and outs of this breed...

I hear you.. I am exhausted also. I have studied the greater part of the day and I needed a short break. Our exams are back to back this semester with little time in between so I have to keep my nose in a book almost contantly. I will try to do the exercise also if I get my reading done at a decent hour tonight. Congrats on your sale! Your work is beautiful.

the pair of Blue cop marans you bought are nice .

the pullet is a nice long type .
nice back
pretty head
nice eyes
well feathered shanks
nice blue a little lighter .

she seem to me she have a open tail .
take a photos of her from the rear so we can see the shape of her tail .

need more copper on her hackle could be added if mated to the correct rooster .

My boy

he is ok body wise is going to be a big boy .
nice type
nice flat long back
nice tail at the right angle .

2 thing are wrong with him
his comb is bad ( comb come from the hen any way )
his rear fluff is white .should be blue /gray .

DO not mate a Blue to a Blue ,you will end up with a really bad blue ton plus splash and BC

for a great result you need a pair of Black copper .than you mate a Blue to a Black . you will get 50% each well colored ,and better blue ton .

the Black s help to keep the blue with a nice ton ( blue pigeon breast color ) and the Blue helps to keep the sheen down on the Black copper .

X2 on what chooks said.

You will always get a deeper, better blue when the bird is from a Blue X Black breeding.

I have to note down that the addition of Blue has a benefit for the Black offspring.

If only I were going to do BBS Marans instead of just BCM.
