RedBank with this 2 roosters you have Claude and Antonio plus a few pullets I don t think you will ever need any other BCM from what ever line .

you have to realize that you have the best ,just focus on breeding them properly that all .

2 gorgeous BCM lines from 2 sublime roosters .

All the best .

Thanks Chooks man, I think we forget that he is a month younger than Bello and Claude. He is just now catching up on copper. He has never had a problem in the bulk department. In person he is a very big rooster compared to the other two. Sometimes when I am looking at him I think of your Hercules (body). He is a tank. His back is very wide and his chest broad.

He also has the best tail. A perfect tent and usually carries it lower than this. I just put him on alert to get his head off the ground so I could get a better picture.

this is my favorite photo of him .

does high light the length and the width of his back plus a normal tail angle

he is walking .well balanced .

love the color of his shanks

You have trained me well. I was looking at this picture and I started ticking off my "description" of him in my head. Starting with comb, ear tufts (which are perfect), eye........ etc. You are doing an amazing job of teaching this very inexperienced chicken person.

My Herculus is in a bad shape .he broke his left leg . he lost a lot weight in this couple of weeks .
he is under Antibiotic ( actually all of them ) for 5 more day ,

I think he was too heavy to jump down from the roost . I did not pay attention .was too high for him not the other . now I m paying for it .one of my favorite rooster is no doing good .

hope he ll make it .he was taking a dust bath today still limping .

Quote: Oh no..... I love Hercules (I like him.... like you like Claude). I hope he recovers and you have made me think. These birds are young and agile but I may have my roosts too high to for when they are older and heavier. I am going to bring them down a bit. Good height?

No.... I didn't take the tail comment wrong. You know I don't like Bello's tail and Claude's is only fair. Wonder if it really is the heat causing the big combs? It is hot! Still hot now in September.

Trying to get ready for a big weekend. Going to a Ranch Heritage weekend put on by the Florida Cattlemen's Association. Got my western duds ready. Can't wait to see the Cracker cattle and horses, Cow dog competition, rodeo and shop!

You look so pretty Redbanks! Have a good time! In regards to roost height, for my heavier large fowl I like to keep roosts no higher than 2-3 feet. Our games are lighter and agile and can handle higher roosts but will still get bumblefoot in their older age with high roosts. Flying down off a high roost onto the hard ground causes bumblefoot and other injuries in heavier birds. Keeping fresh fluffy straw or other bedding around the roost area softens the impact when they land and also chickens love fresh straw to scratch so it keeps chickens busy. They love to eat the wheat out of straw.. its like crack for chickens. Lol @Chooks man sorry to hear about your beautiful Hercules! Hopefully he will recover amd bounce back. We have had several Game cocks that have recovered from a broken leg well. Chickens are resilient. Our setup for a broken leg is to fill a small pen with lots of straw to offload the injured leg. It has worked very well for us depending on if the leg is broken in the long bone at the shank or dislocated in the joint. Hope he gets better!

Thank you!

I will get to work on the pens. The funny thing is the chickens I have had the most trouble with bumblefoot are the Cream Legbars. The smallest, lightest, most agile chickens I have. No matter, I hate bumblefoot!

I havent noticed bumblefoot in our large breeds yet, but their roosts are low so that is probably why. The only chickens we have had with bumblefoot are the older 4+ year old game cocks that have higher roosts. They are light like a legbar when they are younger but they can get fat and sassy in their older age especially when they're in brood pens. Lol. Bumblefoot can be bad, but it honestly doesn't seem to bother the Games too bad. No limping or signs of discomfort. By the time they are old enough to start getting bumblefoot, it is time to cull them anyway. As sad as that sounds. Unless they just have sentimental value. Older birds are rotated out, and younger birds are rotated in.
