Thank you all .
I was said yesterday .
Today is another day . life goes on .
spent 5 hours last night on the chicken genetic calculator to see from where I can get this colombian gene back to show up .
I found that I have 66.5% chances I could bring it out of the White Storm and his sister ( they both carry the Db _ Dark Brown _ Black tail buff gene) matted to the Birchen hens ( mother/ant of Hercules ).

The cross is going to give me a impure colombian cockerels ( like Hercules) as F1 . So I should have a new Hercules junior around Xmas ( will be my present from me to my self ,that great )

When found the Formula of making Hercules junior I was happy again and I went to sleep .

So I should have many Hercules junior at Xmas time . he ha .
Life is good,we just have to keep pushing that all .

chooks man

good news!

I hope you will get plenty of birds, just in case. now I understand why is important to stick to 1 breed unless someone has enough land for many birds. I used to think 1 male and 2-3 females would be enough. that is what most people here do.

the other egg is tinted/cream, darker than in the pic. the luna's egg is around #5! her mother's 1st eg was #3 but speckled like this one. her mother laid #5.

Maybe those of us that live in the South need to only have chicks in late summer and fall, that way while the comb is developing it will be cooler weather.
I also had many troubles with the brooder and grow out chicks becoming overheated because of the varying temperatures.

I basically only hatch in the fall through new years when I am hatching my own eggs. It is much less work involved that way haha.

does anyone know where I can get some BCM in the USA?
Many places have them but not many places have good ones.

The best way to get good birds is always going to be directly from a breeder.

what part of the US are you in? (There are many breeders around the south)

Welcome to this thread and BYC. There are many places, most of the people on this thread are in the USA. Little Peddler, Heaven Sent Ranch, Greenfire Farms, Feels Right Farm (on BYC you can PM her) just to name a few.

One more thing I would recommend is to study first. Maybe you already have. I had to go thru a lot of birds before I feel I got birds good enough to breed. I wasted a lot of time and money because I really had not researched enough. You will read on this thread that we do not advise culling birds because they have a fault. We are learning to be breeders and learning how to fix the faults but.... you can be ahead of the game by choosing a breeder that has been working on their line in a serious way with line bred birds. Ask questions. I have seen some beautiful birds posted here. If you go thru the thread from the beginning you may see a line of birds that interests you, you can send that person a private message. Maybe they will have eggs or chicks or they may refer you to the breeder. This is a great thread and still new enough you can start from the beginning. I have learned so much here.
