International Black Copper Marans Thread - Breeding to the SOP

About naming the pullet, I guess I should do that.. lol all of my grown chickens have names with with the exception of the 2 Marans. My children named then. I'm so bad at names. It took me till I was 8 months pregnant with two of my children before I found a name for them. That pullets personality is very sweet. She doesn't pick on anyone and no one picks on her, she and the blue copper cockerel are about in the middle of the pecking order. Everytime I enter the yard she is the first one running to me to see what I brought. If I don't have anything she just stands there waiting under my feet anyway even after the others of have moved on.

Considering your description of your pullet might I suggest naming her Sweetie Pie. Any name you choose will be perfect for her.

TRUE BLACK COPPER MARANS HATCH DOWN

NOT THIS OVERMELENIZED THING MOST PEOPLE TALK ABOUT.

look at the color of her toes ,nice and pink ,the shank nice a slate . NOT ALL BLACK .

I love this pullet .
you have to name her because she is going to be a future reference of how the black copper marans chicks should look like . and how they look when mature .

BRAVO to the breeder of this fine specimen . if it is you ,than Bravo to you .

chooks man

this 2 photos of her are going to be forwarded so often as a true reference of the BCM chicks hatch down .
1) mostly dull black with a shorter hatch down . NOT PENGUIN TYPE .
2 ) pure black face NO white around the eyes and the beak
3) dark shank with a pink toes and bottom

Absence of any parasitic genes as chicks OR as adult pullet.

So every body can see the black chicks are the true black copper in the absence of any parasitic genes .NOT the PENGUIN . loaded with all sort of parasitic genes .

Name her well she is the asset of every BCM lover now . She is a PRINCES to me .very rare pure Specimen ,a true to the breed ,

Thank you for sharing this photos with us .

If you have a "sweet" grandma name her after her. My first two girls, a BCM & an Australorp are named Mary & Rose after my grandmothers and they really are the sweetest things

I did have a very sweet grandmother. I named my daughter after her already. She passed away a few months after my daughter was born.

I was thinking about Lady Olivia? Or just Olivia.
