@marchick

I m not a big fun of this guy .
his comb is not good compare to the other 2
his tail seem split at the top . or just a photo.
his hackle has too much golden
love the colour of his feet

I will check again but I believe the white you see in tail is lighting.

Actually the Blue tag and red tag don't have white in tail feathers. That I can see but the blue tag has white foot feathers and he may be very mean. The red tags tail was messed up from the other roosters beating him up. I had to separate them.

that is a good news .no white just a light reflection .

if the Blue is mean than a Red is your Cockerel of chose .

What a difficult decision to make!!!
White blue or red. Lol Nothing about Marans is easy.
I like white better comb but white in tail.
I like blue not great comb and white toe feathers and could be my worse nightmare.
I like red but comb is not great and hackle a little light. No white which I like. So you think red is best? Ugh!!! Help

@marchick

here what I think of this older cockerel .I had a second look at him .
I was wrong about his comb .it is not that bad . has the correct number of points { they are not balanced that all } nice texture { rough } nice front { not twisted neither bent } free from any side sprig or double points of any type .
only the problem I see is the back of the comb .it is too big and is touching the neck .{ should be lifted higher }
onther problem I see with his body type . he is too high from the front ,make his back overly tilted .
your pullet do have a deep chest ,they will correct that for sure .

What correct about him is .
his gorgeous silver .pure and lush .
pure black plumage . no lacing .no white ,no red
correct feet feathering and colour
correct tail .form /shape and angle .
correct head and eyes colour .

his progeny will be well coloured for sure. I ll name him for you
.we can t keep calling him old cockerel . name is Lion Heart

your marans do have a correct tail .

I am glad you say so many nice things about this handsome guy. if I was closer he would be mine even if I had to steal him:oops:

my opinion: he might not be too high from the front. my boy stands like that when I am watching him (or taking a pic). at least my boy is very arrogant and does not know to pose.

Blue cuckoo rooster{ silver ?} Over Black copper hen ,you ll get many varieties .
if the rooster is a double barred silver Blue cuckoo ,than all the F1 will be barred .some Blue and some black .
pullets will be all barred silver cuckoo with a Red Leakage .
all the cockerels will be dark impure cuckoo .blue and black.

the beauty is when you mate the F1 X F1 to get F2 .
F2 will have all sort of colours from pure Black copper to pure Cuckoo and Birchen . blue and Black .
crossing a Cuckoo cockerel to a BC hen is a proper way to recreate a Birchen pattern,after few generation of selective breeding.

Ah the Partridge pattern eb marans don t have it . marans do have a Salmon e+
