Thank you so much! I did bring him inside but I think that was my mistake. I can kick myself. Higher temperatures blood thins and makes it worse. I never could get the bleeding to stop. I put him back outside in a pen by himself. I think if I would have just left him alone. He might have been ok. I don't hold up much hope for him. Praying and waiting. No more batchelor pens. They got along for the longest time. I was getting ready to separate them but too late.So sorry to hear about this @marchickI have no words of advice really but am hating it for you and the injured bird! I’m inclined to say bring him inside until he heals up so he can be confined and get his rest. Perhaps he can make it. The pecking order is brutal

Maybe I am not cut out for this! I get too attached to them. I have never seen a chicken lose so much blood. When I had him in the house. The bottom of the cage was full of blood. The paper plate I gave him some cooked egg yolk was full of blood. The walls of the pen and door was covered in blood. I went out this morning and he is covered in more blood. Bleeding looks to be stopped this morning and he is at least able to stand. Which he couldn't do yesterday. I gave him some more cooked egg yolk this morning. Thank you Jesus for answering my prayers. I am so glad the good days most of the time outweigh the times like this when you want to give up. I still love my Marans.they are more hardy than you think .
I usually separate the injured one to a confine place and let him heel .I do give them some vitamin and leave them along .never lost any rooster or cockerels and I had a lot off them I though they where not going to make it .I was wrong .
good luck .

Thank you, I didn't think about the higher temperatures either until after I brought him inside and the blood started pouring. I tried that before you posted. I wanted you to know it was all me. I took him egg out this morning but he didn't eat much of it. I can't tell if he eat chicken feed or drank water. So far he is still alive. I hope he comes out of it.@marchick I never thought about higher temps causing more blood loss. Glad he’s doing better today~ keep us updated!
