the cockerel in the photo has 100% correct body type . long body .short on his feet .thick and solid built . very very deep chest .
great cockerel to work with .
the pullet between him the the first pullet {only head and neck} is 100% correct body type .long ,thick ,wide all the way through her body . great quality copper .

if you mate her to the first cockerel with a lighter hackle you ll end up with the majority of the cockerel with a great quality hackle like her .

I like this pullet body type and her complete hackle marking .
I don t like her body colour ,

this pullet has better body marking but not a body type .first pullet is better .

Yes. Were you the one who commissioned those? Because I can totally see you doing that...
Someday I will attend more shows. It's definitely a goal.

Kpennly is the one that commissioned those ribbons. They sure draw a lot of attention to the birds at the shows. They aren't quite as big and flashy as the top ribbons from the Marans USA club. The Marans Group does a good job at their club shows.

It has been quiet on this thread - too quiet. Thought I would post some pics of a couple of my grow outs. These chicks will be 7-8 weeks old next week.

This Cockerel is showing good type, comb and eye color @ 7 weeks. Orange band on right leg indicates proper hatch down color - no white on face.

Second pic is of a pullet, I like the amount and color of her copper hackle at almost 8 weeks. A majority of my pullets are showing good amounts of copper color.

My chicks still have a lot of growing to do and much can change so I try not to get too excited.

great type for sure 100%correct . I love the way he stand .up right .solid legs hope he will be well coloured .
love the hackle on the pullets .complete hackle at this young age .great trait to have ,

Your pullet is showing very nice color. I have had company for the last 3 weeks. I hope after company leaves I will have more time. I did make it out in the pens this morning and took a couple pictures. Not very good pictures though.

@marchick - You have some nice grow outs! The BLCM Pullet looks like she will be a large girl when she matures. The Silver Blacks are showing nice silver too!

I separated my Pullets and Cockerels this past weekend. The Cockerels were beginning to bully some of the slower grow outs. In another couple of weeks I will put a two of my older hens in with the cockerels to teach them proper manners.

flat back ,a little sorter but correct
correct tail angle .
