I forgot about these 4 Birchen hens.
I think this makes all Birchen 17 in total. The two are in heavy molt.

agree with you ,this hen is a mother of the hackle pullet . she is long and thin .not a good type .
always select your hens recording to they body type and egg colour .forget about hackle marking ,will come from the rooster any way.

you have too many hens .you only need the best 3/4 hens and 2/3 cockerels
keep the best and get ready of the rest ,

I may end up with 6 or 7 but will cull out any that lay light eggs by not hatching from them. If I can catch them laying then will cull if light.

I think I have 3 in that pen. I know one lays a light egg. The only problem is I don't know which one. I do know none of the light eggs went into the Incubator. I will for sure keep the one Black Birchen hen. The one blue and solid Black Birchen pullet. So 3 picked out so far.
