@Acre4Me
correct body type ,head and gorgeous comb .love her body colour and the lacing is perfect . lovely hackle marking .
a problem I see is .her eyes are dark and I m not sure why her tail is so low in all the photos ?

both of your hens this one and BC are correct in conformation .#1 trait PLUS the egg colour . the rest is just for showing .

@Chooks man, thanks for the detailed info! The Blue CM always has her tail down! She is heavily feathered, it appears, but I can’t think of a time she has had her tail up. I’ll see if I can look back at some pics when she was younger to see if there was any difference.

as to who is laying which egg, we are not sure. These are our only dark layers, and we think only 2 are laying. However, I suppose all three could be laying if two lay a similar shade. At this point we have 2 shades of brown-both quite different, with one much darker than the other (previous post with pics). I’ll see if we can figure it out.

What about the feathered legs: the black has hardly any! The blue has a lot. Does this matter much?

coloring if the all black one: she actually has a tiny bit of copper in her hackles- can see in good light, but it is very minimal. Does this matter?
Thanks!

your blue hen might have worms. some of my chickens kept their tails down when they had worms.

I'll check, but this one always has her tail down, but acts fine! I have pics from when she was 5 weeks old - tail down in all pics. Here she is at 5.5 weeks (@Chooks man)

it is genetic for sure .min is 45 Degres .max 60Degres .
are you breeding from them or just your layer flock?

I like the mossy and the Black hens .both complete each other in a breeding pen if penned with a same rooster .

currently just layer flock. We had males (previously posted pics), but sold them as they were too aggressive to the rest of the flock and I didn’t have room to separate them into another area for them to mature.
