@kfelton0002

this pullets has a correct French type tail . full at base ,small and thin . perfect .
chooks man

I like her as well, I just hope her tail doesn't go sky high as she reaches POL. That would be my luck.

The American Marans folk like a fuller tail, like the pullet I posted earlier. I like the French tails better, but I may have to breed some both ways in order to have the best of both worlds. Some more French type tails, and some with fuller tails that will appeal to judges at shows.

great job .you will see in the spring ,they will look different bird .young and fit .
a lot people do a mistake on keeping the pullets with cockerels after 4 months of age .bad news for a pullets .they never reach they full potential .

chooks man

I definitely want them to reach their full potential. I don't want to breed them if they aren't my best. Quality is certainly my goal, not quantity. If I pick the best 2 out of 5 pullets I have caught up to breed, that works for me.

My pullets have started laying again. I'm considering when to start my new year hatches... I guess I'd better start getting some light on the turkeys so I can get everyone on the same page! If I set turkey eggs a week before the chicken eggs, they all hatch together. Does anyone feed a conditioner feed to breeders before collecting for hatch? What, if any, differences have you noticed? I like topdressing with kelp.
My bourbon red from this years hatch just stated laying. This is way early and she will be layed out by breeding season.

Oof, well, at least your poults would be adult feathered and possibly start laying in the fall if you start hatching now! Also, you have turkey eggs for rich holiday baking if nothing else...

If my pullets where old enough. I would be tempted to hatch but they are not. So no hatching from the hen turkey this year. I hope my adult hen Turkey doesn't start laying. Way too early for Turkey poults. I only have the two and the one tom.

Blaze got my husband twice this morning. Him and Nimbus have both been challenging us. Nimbus was coming at me last night. I grabbed him and carried him. I hope they get past all the hormones kicking in.

Oh no! Hopefully you can show them who's boss. Severel of my OEG cockerels are doing it too when they were sweet just a few weeks ago. It is hormones, but I hope your cockerels calm down after you carry them around some.
