International Black Copper Marans Thread - Breeding to the SOP

What size leg bands does everyone use on their birds? I like the idea of leg bands since the color is easy to spot from a distance and numbered to give a catalog of who they are. We were at the Dixie classic and they had great pricing on leg bands but I didn’t know which to get. Can I get one size and band when they are half grown or should I use multiple sizes for different stages?

thanks, Ben

Thisis what I am using https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07C39W36Q/?tag=backy-20

I considered the metal leg bands, but to tell the truth, when I looked at several birds with them on, I couldn't see the numbers until i picked them up. same with teh zip tie bands, so went with the cheaper zip ties

Okay so going to post some pics of the month olds that are losing their fuzz and gaining their feathers they look awful right now. But at least you can see their combs.

Besides the larger comb, this one is the boss or should I say bully of the bunch.

The second possible male. Another large comb and has that I want to grow up to be a gangly ostrich thing going on.

Both of these guys are also the largest

The 2 with large combs are 100% cockerels.

Now onto possible females. Both of these are the middle of the bunch as far as size goes.

And then this one

The last of the 5 is shy and under the rest. Was totally freaked out to see the lid of the brooder open and the phone go in to take pictures, but so far it is the smallest and has no comb to speak of.
Top picture is not the best picture. Bottom picture pullet for sure.

I order my legbands from Wood Enterprises online. There are several different sizes I use on the Marans. The males need bigger leg bands than the females. I will look when I get home.. I hope I kept the boxes.
