My new to me rooster with no white tail feathers. The one in the back is molting real hard. Not sure about him. Just put the one in the foreground in with 5 BCM hens. TOM

I agree. There is such a wealth of information here for the serious breeder. I have learned so much over the past few years and am so grateful.

I have looked and read on other marans sites lately but it is not the same. THIS is where the real learning is.

No the 2 chicks turned out to be Blue French Marans… so now we have 3 blues. There was some debate over colour, I was told Blue Copper, but the two hatcheries the feed store uses did not list that as a breed colour choice… cuckoo, black, black copper being listed… they should grow up to look like Lana. I see no evidence of Copper in them so solid blue. What we need are some Coppers, but all things in time will happen.

Hello! I have been away from this thread for the better part of a year. I over did the chicken thing until I was damn sick of anything to do with them. LOL. Decided not to hatch this year. Bought 8 Marans chicks (ended up with 3 splash, 1 black copper, 3 blue copper and 1 wheaten ). I needed some new blood. I will post some pics once the fox buggers off ( June) as for now they are locked up in a safe coop.
Has Chooks Man been around????
