Do you still have Waylon’s progenies ?chooks man

I do not have any of Waylons progenies.
He is the rooster that suddenly went lame. I ended up having to cull him. I took all the eggs from that pen and hatched them hoping to carry on. Several of his progeny had wry tails and keels. One had weak legs at around 9 months. I decided to cull them all for this reason. Even the few that looked fine.

the cockerel in the middle is stunning ,he seem to have more qualities than all of them ,only work needed is his comb ,large type .but correct points number .
love they sort feets .
chooks man

It is very hot and humid here in South Carolina. Is it true that heat tends to give them larger combs or is this a myth?

@Punkybrewster
this guy has a bad comb ,double points in the form of M ,middle part of his comb .
I don t see his shoulder coloration ?
donsn t seem to have any white any where , can you check his under fluff is is pure black or greyish black . we are looking for a pure dark black under fluff whithout any white ,.
for the parasitic white we can not tell ,till after the big molt at 2 years of age , OLd man tom has mentioned it in one of his post ,
to breed out the parasitic white we have to breed from old stock more mature with out any white .
chooks man

Yes, he is much darker with dark underfluff but not as much copper at this age. This is why I have kept him so far. He has the darkest underfluff out of the 4 I will keep and let grow some more.

The rest have lighter grey underfluff which makes me think they will end up with some white on them after molt.

@Bantambird Black silver pullet ,
this 2 pullets are identical similar body type and feathering .both are high standard .
Bravo to both breeders .
chooks man

The top photo in this post is Judith's pullet (yellow leg band). I was only able to hatch 2 of her eggs before culling her. She was an egg eater and would not use a roll out nesting box.

The 2 eggs that hatched gave me 1 pullet, 1 cockerel. He is the cockerel with the yellow leg band in my cockerel photos.
