I am doing what you would do by reading and taking notes from this thread!

I would have never gotten this far without it. There is so much information here.

So the only cockerels/roosters I have are the 4 that are showing no white yet and that 1 squirrel tailed one that I need to butcher.

I started out with 12 boys I hatched early spring.
All Seamus progeny, using hens from lines 1,2 and 3
I culled the ones that showed white early. Now to let these guys molt and see what I have to work with.

I am sure my neighbors are not happy. Its very loud around here at 4am.

You have done well with those cockerels @Chooks man. They are stunning.

my husband always starts harrassing me to hurry up and pick already on the cockerels. It is easy to see major faults, and those birds make excellent roasters, but we end up eating a lot of soup or coq a vin.

longer the cockerels stay alive more fault or quality they show ,better for the selection .
you don t have to worry about that ,you already done great job with your birds ,each person should work with they birds the way they can .we should not force our selves to do some thing we can afford .
the husband seem to know when it is a god time to eat those extra cockerels .
i remember my father telling my mother about her cockerels because she like to keep them for one year minimum .you feed them for a year but they feed you only for one day .
guess it is hasband and wife thing ,doesn t matter what part of the world .

I have a lot problem with my cockerels combs .lot of them have damaged comb from fighting .because I was not around for a long time 15 months total ,Troy kept them all .he could not make the selection . caused a lot fighting . we have 9 pens all full of roosters /cockerels . one pen has 20 cockerels all trouble maker .
the smallest pen has 6 CTB and his 4 boys plus Shamrock#2 . very calm pen .
I lost Khabib and his gorgeous comb none of his son s have his type of comb . some they have nice comb but not as great as Khabib . Khabib comb was faultless .10/10 . few of his daughter have inherited his comb gorgeous type small ,straight ,thick ,rough with a correct points and clear well lifted lobe . so it is not all lost . I should breed nice cockerels from them for sure .

we have 32 last year pullets all stunning .15 Splash from 3 different pairing . some are from Khabib over splash hens . they are the dark eggs layer .
some are from CTB blue copper rooster over the Blue copper hens .they are massive type .eggs not as dark as Khabib daughters .
the 3 type are only few are from Shamrock the cuckoo over a BLC hens .they are massive too with a super large comb and high tails ,I will not keep them .
3 BC all with a lovely coppery hackle .all CTB daughters .one is from Gazelle she is massive ,one is from LoveSong the best one .the best I ever bred ,show quality 100% she doesn t seem to have any apparent fault .not sure about the egg colour yet . she is going to be my future foundation hen with her mother . one is from Philipine . she is long like her mother with a minimum marking .
2 pure black are both from Amor . they are E/ER big type with a lovely small tail .
all 6 pullets have a correct body type and a correct tail shape form and angle . all have lovely small combs .
4 Blue copper with a minimum copper marking or none . all big type with a correct small pointy tail . all 4 are keepers . I m going to breed out the copper from my Blue line .I want to breed only Solid Blue . no more BLC very hard to get it alright and when you do does not look good on the hens . I do not like it . I like solid Blue like Dark Angel .
6 White tail buff all identical .super long and large bird they eggs are not bad at all some are darker than other ,just need to know witch one is laying the darkest one that all .
1 Black tail buff with too much smokiness on her chest .she is out .
1 is Blue silver cuckoo . lay light colored eggs I did manage to catch her yesterday . great body type plus big girl too .
we have more cockerels than pullets .

Black copper rooster 2 years old .son of Conan the barbarian . He is stunning gorgeous uniform copper .complete body pattern . No chest marking.his mama is Madonna .no parasitic white .I ll be penning him soon with all BC hens. Chooks man

sorry I was wrong about this guy his mother is Gazelle .we did not breed Madonna last time . I checked my record when I was in the farm . he is SpringBuck brother with a parasitic white on his tail .second best out of the 5 brothers . he is a keeper too .

this guy is massive with a correct body type and combc his tail is a little longer ,right angle . he is Shamrock#2 son the best one too . I m keeping him to use him over Khabib daughters . he is my favourite out of all splash cockerels .
I love to weight him I think he is about 12 to 13 pound for sure .he make the others roosters look like cockerels . super gentle like his sire . love his comb too.
I named him Djamal mean handsome in Arabic .

sorry just too much work .too many thing need to be done , come bck from the frm couples hours ago. spent the weekend there .was lovely to see the animal . the chooks are very good .well looked fter by Troy . he did fabulous job .
lost few old one no many ,lost my solid black roosters ll 3 of them black Bamba nd his 2 sons . still have the 5 girls any way. lost Gazelle BC hen but I have her daughter ,she is stunning and hve 5 of her sons too .very big type really giants for sure ,only problem they have prsitic white on they tail .
I have a lot chooks over 100 hens { 5 marans hens{ and over 70 roosters ( 40 marans ) lot to select from

was a bad for me last 2 year ,guess it is not only me the hole world has suffered . any way lost lot thing not just a black roosters .will take me years to recover .
I still haven t finished with a problems I have with a law .
any way this is life I can not complain .I still healthy and have a lot chooks to work with .

sorry I was wrong about these guys .they are brothers not father and son . because the Blue cuckoo look exactly like his father Shamrock#2 . will be very hard to make a difference between Shamrock and his son . lucky Troy has penned Shamrock in different pen with CTB . plus Shamrock has the leg ring .
