my husband always starts harrassing me to hurry up and pick already on the cockerels. It is easy to see major faults, and those birds make excellent roasters, but we end up eating a lot of soup or coq a vin.I am doing what you would do by reading and taking notes from this thread!
I would have never gotten this far without it. There is so much information here.
So the only cockerels/roosters I have are the 4 that are showing no white yet and that 1 squirrel tailed one that I need to butcher.
I started out with 12 boys I hatched early spring.
All Seamus progeny, using hens from lines 1,2 and 3
I culled the ones that showed white early. Now to let these guys molt and see what I have to work with.
I am sure my neighbors are not happy. Its very loud around here at 4am.
You have done well with those cockerels @Chooks man. They are stunning.
