International Black Copper Marans Thread - Breeding to the SOP

She does.
She is very big and heavy. Solid.
Keep her aside we see what we can do with her j kg after . She is big and heavy with a deep chest . We need to keep those traits in your line . We need to find a special long cockerel to breed her to .
I don t like to dismiss any great traits
I think if we breed her to a cockerel with a long back free from any fluffiness . They will throw some stunning progeny for sure . Mass and depth is inherited from the mother . The length of thd body come from both parents. That is a theory any way
Do you have any other hen from the one we kept as heavy as her?

@Punkybrewster
Can you please make a list of the hens we selected as keeper in a order of the length of they body ( who has a longer body type) number one will be the hen with a longest body and the last hen will be the shortest .
Second list is for who is the heavy. Hen 1 will be the heaviest and the last hen will be the lighter one.
Cheers
Don t forget the straightness of they legs . We don t want hens with X type kegs

this is the best hen and the best photo. true rectangular body shape with a super deep chest and well developed rear ,short to the ground type .
she is good in all the area except her comb is a little biger , easy fix .we should bred cockerels from her ( we will for sure in the future )

@Punkybrewster
this hen look good in this photo .still has a short back ,but the depth of chest and the chunkiness of her body are 2 great traits she has plus good comb too .

if you have a small pen and if you want to do a small hatch I think you should pen this hen and the Green left leg hen with one of your rooster just for a small hatch a Dz chicks . we need they marked progeny we are looking for cockerels from them .if possible .

I will check who else is as heavy.

Now that I know better, both JR and Mr comb have short backs.

I am hoping for a long back in some of the grow out cockerels.

She has no name yet.

All the green leg band hens were from a hatch I was going to sell as chicks last spring but changed my mind because they looked so good.

I'm glad I kept them.

This one is the best of them all . Stunning long and deep body type . What we are looking for.
She is a keep .
