@Chooks man
Hey, here is a updated picture man. He is 9 weeks old.
He is very chunky and big but he has a lot gold leakage not sure if from the camera lighting or he has a lot copper because his black feathers are very mossy they should be pure black. Some time they do molt out as they grow up . Hope it s a case with him.
Photos of him standing I really like his chunkiness and his thick head.
I ll wait for better photos.

I want to learn what each gender passes down to it's offspring. Is there a website everyone uses? If someone tries to explain, please dumb it down please. I'm just looking for the basics on BCM'S
to start.... no fancy crossings.
@Chooks man I know your super busy. I'm in no rush. Just something I've been wanting to get started learning. 😁

For instance, all 4 of last year's hatch from King have heavy leg/foot feathering. I take this as this must have come from King seeing that there was 3 different hens eggs. But his feathering is scarce as were all his hens except Jett. She had the most feathering. But she's not the only hen we set eggs from. If that makes any sense.

I got most of my Marans information from the French and from my mother and grand mother . I m a third generation Marans breeder . There is a specific website about how to breed Marans .
How about if we start a new thread just about Marans genetic and how breed them to SOP nothing else so we can go through all the traits . What is sexed linked and what are autossomal .
Let me know what you think

Any genes if they are sex linked they will be inherited in this order:
Rooster( sire) will pass down those traits to all his progeny ( pullets and cockerels).
Hens( mothers) will only passes those traits to her son s .
If the genes ( traits) are autossomal by nature than they could be bass down from both parents to all they progeny .
