I only ended up with 11 chicks. There are 8 BC and 3 Blcm. I am grateful to have them. It was a poor hatch. I do not see any life in the rest of the eggs. I will keep them in till tomorrow. Then I am going to check them to see at what stage they quit. I updated this since apparently I can't count! I said 10 chicks but there is 11 chicks. Lol

We put in the window today. We now have a window that opens at opposite corners for better circulation and more lighting. Which was desperately needed. We know the window was supposed to be hung vertically. With the squares at the top according to the sticker on the window. It's a chicken house though so who really cares. It also was supposed to open from the inside but we have it opening from the outside. I am going to put 1/2" hardware cloth across the inside of the window so nothing can get inside.

wow there is a lot of light now ,chooks don t care if the window is not fixed properly as long as there is light .you have done great they will love it for sure .
natural light is very good for them as they grow .
agree shade cloth will be great nice to be safe .

still have trouble with the internet not fully fixed , going back to the town tomorrow lunch time to see what can be done .

I m in love with this new farm very quite and great views .

Lots of light and being able to open it helps with the heat. The breeze blows in from the west usually. It has been really hot here. It is supposed to get hotter and be around 100 degrees for several days. I can already tell they are all more comfortable though.

I went out and found all my 6 pheasant chicks dead. I do not know what got them. We are assuming weasel but they are intact. I am not seeing bit marks or anything just dead. They where all fine yesterday. Now I am worried about the rest.

I am heartbroken!!! Boy this is hitting me hard!!! I am still crying! I got way too attached to those 6 pheasant chicks. They where 5 weeks old. I have been really trying to tame them. They where doing so good. They would hop up and sit next to me. They where not afraid of me at all. I could hold and cuddle them. Life sucks! Time to trap a weasel! It had to be a weasel. Nothing bigger could have gotten inside. I did find a place big enough for a weasel to get through. Right on the fence line. I put radio out there. I thought maybe that might help scare them. Next to that house. And there is a crack in that house that a weasel could get through. I have work to do!!! Now keeping my other babies safe!!!

Thank you! I have been out trying to put that steal hardware cloth up without the proper tools. It's not going so well. I need a chisel. I can't get the wire between the beam and wall. Knife and screwdriver is so slow! I am sure that's what those tools are used for right!!!!! Lol If my husband cared about his tools he would be here helping. Plus he is the organizer and no one can find anything. Not even him most of the time! Lol
