International Black Copper Marans Thread - Breeding to the SOP

you see, it can be hard to know the real color of eggs displayed on the internet. Lighting makes a real difference, and people selling marans eggs have used lighting to make their eggs look darker than natural sunlight would show. Simple filters can enhance eggs, too. It sort of looks like they may be filtering because the egg chart next to those eggs doesn't have much variation. I might just be a little aghast at that price, though... phew! I charge 10 dollars straight run, pick up only for chicks, but my local market won't support much higher, and I don't want to overcharge anyone. Breeding chickens doesn't usually make enough profit to live off of, it is because you love it and you are trying to offset feed costs and cover for next year. That might be just me, though. I am certainly the least business like woman around.
you are one of the best marans breeder out there ,internationly I m tolking , shame your marked doesn t suport a high price for your work ,Blessing

here photos of marans chicks I hatched before Xmas ,rundom breeding 10 rooster diferent varieties most of them BCM with 120 hens , only picked the darkest eggs to incubate ,when they hatched I gave them to a broody hens to look after them for me ,they did great job .I had 65 but a Dog attach NY day killed 2 hens with 25 chicks , so I left with 40 chicks , now they are 5 month old ,many colour but mostly black //BC/Blue copper and Splash ,plus few other colour ,

I spotted one yesterday that had some mossiness. I'll get pics....

These are Kong x Solo (Black Silver) The head spot is from incubator I kept to watch. All 4 weeks old.
So far I only see one male in the 8. Did I get that lucky with this hatch? 🤣

Any other time I welcome all cockerels, it's been a struggle getting a good one.
With this pairing, I want the females.
Those golden (S/s+) cockerels might be pretty, though not for breeding silvers. Half of their offspring bred to BCMs will be coppers so if one has fantastic type I wouldn’t rule it out.
Just don’t keep those silvers if you did breed from a golden.

Ok thanks...I planned on keeping any males til 19-20 weeks at least. I'll be posting lots of pics as this this cross is fascinating to watch for me just having BCMs only until now, besides the hybrids.

Confused by this...these 7 are from Gold x Silver.
