Into the bator 11/22/08

YAY for you! It's so much fun, isn't it? I took the whole day off from work for my first hatch and never left the side of the bator. It was awsome!

This is fun. So far I only still have one that hatched. He/She is doing real good. I wish the others would pip. It would make me feel better. But, to me this was still a success because it was my first batch in a bator I built myself and I learned alot. Even built a bigger bator and put 27 eggs in it yesterday. I'll get all the bugs out of these hatches so when my girls start laying I can replentish my flocks. Then I'll have a younger bunch.

I guess today is day 23....Had 1 hatch Saturday (day 21) and no more. 4 were left. I guess they didn't make it. I'll leave them a couple more days, but I think that's it.
Just to have one is encouraging that my homemade bator is workable. I'll just tweek it a little and a new batch of 28 are in now. We will see what happens.

Good luck with the new hatch. Im so glad youre not discouraged, its so easy to be, when you see everyone else hatching chickies. All of us have had, and will have, bad hatches, so youre not alone. Just keep trying, pretty soon you'll wonder how in the heck did you get so many chickens?

Build your bator with a window. You won't have to keep opening it to peek, but you may not accomplish anything for 3 weeks. You'll be glued to it.
