Intro and help with a blind pullet

:welcome

A belated hello to you!

I had a partially lame chicken that never could be integrated back into the flock. We set her up with a mini coop and run next to the other bird's run (with extra hardware cloth between them) so they could all see each other and the handicapped girl felt like she had some company. That worked out well for all of them.

Best of luck with your girl!

I remember the name of that thread I think. Precious the blind barred rock. I believe @speckledhen has a vision impaired hen as well
Welcome! I do have a hen with impaired vision, however she is not blind, only has extreme depth perception issues and blurry vision. She must have her food in piles in particular locations so she gets enough to eat regularly because she cannot see single grains or bugs or even locate larger items like bowls very well unless her attention is drawn to them. I have never had an entirely blind bird. Only one Orpington chick hatched blind and we euthanized that chick as soon as we discovered the problem, knowing the challenges it would face, but that was the only one ever to hatch her among hundreds of chicks from different breeders and my own flocks. I know others have blind birds here on BYC and could offer more help.
