Intro for me ^U^

@Debbie292d thanks for the tag!!

@Kimonoboi I am working on that project!! I had a lot of difficulty finding anyone who is actively breeding blue egg silkies. It seems that several who used to, are no longer involved. I did recently find a couple of people on fb dabbling in it. One person actually has been breeding them for many years. Her hatching eggs are so expensive though, I don’t think I could ever afford them. I am about 3 generations in, but I have yet to have a project bird with 2 copies of the gene. However, I am hoping that in another generation or two I can get a double blue egg gene bird!

Feel free to reach out to me or tag me in any posts about blue egg silkies! I love to talk about them! I’ll post pics of a laying pullet that has a gorgeous blue egg. She doesn’t look totally like a silkie but getting closer.
So cool, Im happy to be able to connect @Slothinc , I am also very curious if the mother has more dominance when transfering the blue egg gene or if the father will have more influence there. For my chihuahuas, we usually see the mothers' features, but the father's colors in the fur.

I have my current batch 4 silkie girl and 1 boy, + the blue ameracana girl. With a dozen of blue egg (ameracanas) in the incubator.
I think this year I should see the first F1 gen, (the first mix).

If you remember that like for those blue egg laying Silkies, could you share that with me. I would like to see that post too.^U^

Of course I will remember my friends 😊💞 Call me crazy, but I just cannot ever picture myself selling hatching eggs at the insane prices that I see them at. Standard pricing that I see is $150-$200 for silkie eggs. I honestly think that anything over $100 shipped is just bonkers, considering that there is a good chance they will not even hatch/develop due to rough shipping.) If I had show birds I feel it would be different, but it seems that very few of these breeders do show their birds.

Having been on the receiving end of exorbitantly priced eggs that then got mangled in shipping (and often, I feel, due to poor packaging by the sellers) which then do not hatch, I feel like it is such a racket. I still will buy shipped eggs on occasion, but not like I used to - so much money completely wasted 😭 Anyhow, for that reason, I will try to keep pricing low and probably only ever pass eggs along to my friends and acquaintances… it seems on fb all that I ever see is people complaining about breeders/sellers/etc and I just don’t want to get involved with that! lol!!

Anyways, I will get off my soapbox now, I did not mean to commandeer this thread 🤣 Debbie, of course I look forward to getting eggs to you someday!
I'll trade you a dozen. You don't have to wait though, just name the color(s) and say when ready! The ladies with the red pyle silkie roo are molting, though; a paint (for fun) and silver partridge silkie hens. Otherwise, you can find them on my thread, link in sig. Or I'll find that post of breeding pens and tag you. I think you saw it though.
