Hello, I just joined BYC because I always have questions about my chickens. I have 1 rooster, 1 Silken, 24 layers and 2 fainting goats. I live in MN and its starting to get cold so I'm sure I'll have tons of questions so everyone will stay warm in the barn.

Welcome to byc!
The good news is you only need to provide appropriate shelter, feed and water, they will do the rest to stay warm. ...with the possible exception of the silkie depending on whether or not it is able to sleep with the rest of your flock (they aren't great at rotating, so depends on your setup)

Hi :welcome

Glad you could join the flock! Here is a lovely section of the learning centre you might like to check out ~https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/housing-and-feeding-your-chickens
Lots of super articles all about winter chicken keeping, appropriate food and housing for your flock.

Wishing you the very best of luck. Be sure to ask any questions that you may have, everyone here to help and very friendly.

Enjoy BYC :frow

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to join our flock. Just be sure that your coop is draft free, dry, and has good ventilation to prevent moisture from building up inside it. Feathers are wonderful insulators, and moisture is a much greater danger than cold. If you haven't done so already, definitely check out our Learning Center at https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center. There is lots of useful information there. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Cheers.

Glad you joined us at Backyard chickens. Fainting goats are great fun. You may want to post on the Silkie thread, to ask about breed related questions.
