:welcome:frow I had a cross beak and I had to trim her beak once in awhile. She couldn't eat pellets but did well with crumbles. Your male appears to be a meat bird from your description. You will find a lot of good information here BYCArticles.jpg Good luck with your birds and have fun...

I used pet nail clippers carefully to trim her beak then took an emery board to smooth it out. I wrapped her up like a burrito which made it easier to carefully trim it.

Hello, John, and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
The cockerel that lays down to eat and waddles.. can you post pictures of him? He sounds like a Cornish Cross.
The pullet with the hooked beak sounds like a cross-beak. Can you post pictures of her?
It is not uncommon for a new layer to lay soft shell or shell-less eggs. Do you have a container or two of oyster shell out for them for free choice eating? It helps but the softies may continue until her reproductive system fully matures. It wouldn't hurt her to feed her a 400 mg calcium citrate tablet once a day for a week or more.
Hi everyone sorry took a couple days had some busy days that flew by but here's the pics of the rooster that just sits all the time it seems
