Glad to meet you and welcome to BYC. Sorry for those losses - always hard. And good for you for fixing the raccoon problem! What an unusual problem to have with the chicken laying eggs in your bed (inside or out?)

I keep my birds in their coop/pen area until afternoon when most if not all egg laying has been done, so they pretty much have to choose a nest box in that area. Best wishes with your birds!

Intro time... I live in Tallahassee and have a flock of 7. 3 Easter Eggers 3 black links & 1 black rescue chicken. I have a cat and dog as well who are bossed around and afraid of the chickens. This is my 2nd try at chickens I lost 4 earlier this year to a racoon. Improved my coop & had no problems since. I signed up today because one chick started laying earlier this week & decided yesterday my bed is her preferred spot.
