Introduce a new duck

Yeah ill have to use medicated for a few days.. the pet stores sell it around us but they don't sell un medicated. So until I can get it i was hoping that would be ok. KiKi and NANA eat oats now that they're older but he's still a little guy and I'm not sure how he was eating before so I Wana make sure he had the protein he needs and I'll be adding some brewers yeast! Unfortunately don't think he was eating the correct things

@Kiki to Nana did you pick up you new duckling? How is it going?

Yes we did! We are keeping him (not even sure if its a Drake) inside since he is still a youngster. We introduced him to the two ladies and threw some blueberries around to distract them a bit from someone new in their territory. They did not seem to mind him there. Sometimes one would charge him but hell they do that to us.

I hope you can post a pic soon. They will probably have a few differences but hopefully it will be minimal. Your 2 in your avatar are sure pretty.

He seems to do this weird thing with his feet he rolls them in ward from the side, almost like a fruit roll up. He does it when he says down and then sometimes when he stands up he won't open his feet up unless he walks. He doesn't appear to have anything wrong with him and walk normal.

I was not able to find anything about it and our other two did not do that. Just curious if you have seen or heard of something similar .

No not specifically what you described . But water fowl can have a Niacin def when eating chicken feed because it doesn't have enough niacin for water fowl so you might think about getting some "plain" niacin caps or tablet 150mgs or Brewers yeast food grade[health food store]. and start him on some to see if that helps. Brewers yeast is 1 Tab per cup of feed and the niacin is 150 mg per gallon of water. Niacin deficiency can cause problems similar to this and adding B3 to his diet won't hurt him. I'd start there and usually if this is what it is they recover pretty quick.@Kiki to Nana

Yay, we already have yeast and have been giving it to him. I'm sure he hasn't had any since he hatched so we will continue making sure he gets the proper nourishment. He seemed to have a bigger crop than normal on the right side, so we added extra grit to make sure it wasn't something he couldn't get down

Do you keep feed out for him all the time? if not you might want to then maybe he won't gorge. and always make sure he has a water bowl or bucket deep enough he can dunk his head into but you have ducks already so you probably already know all of this. Lets hope it's an easy fix like just adding Brewers yeast to his feed.
Keep us updated. Put his grit in separate bowl from feed. Your doing a great job.
