Put him in a 'look don't touch' setup for at least a week, 10 days would be better. He needs to be integrated. He's just a cockerel. I personally would let him grow up with the hens because he will learn to be a much better rooster by being raised by his future harem.

I wouldnt return him. He will calm down soon, as long as he can see the hens.
You might try giving him treats and the hens also. Just keep them separated, but treat him first, and let them eat in the same area.
He will eventually start to call them for food. That doesn't usually happen until somewhere between 5 to 7 months with most roosters. But until that time they will get used to him. Good luck!

A few days with see, but no touch would be good. I personally would allow him to grow up with the hens. He will quickly learn to respect the hens. It may take a bit for the hens to accept him, so continue to give extra waterers and food as well as places to hide.
